The soul food of Shizuoka — black broth, skewered ingredients, dashi powder & aonori. A one-of-a-kind experience since 1948!
In Shizuoka, oden is also called 関東煮(かんとだき). The dish features a rich dark broth from beef tendon and pork offal, topped daily via tsugi-tashi (継ぎ足し). Despite the deep color, the flavor is surprisingly mild. Every skewer is finished with dashi powder and aonori.
Founded in Showa 23 (1948), おがわ has passed down its traditional taste for generations. About 17 kinds of ingredients are available, including the famous kuro hanpen from Yaizu. The potatoes (じゃがいも) are a specialty item — sourced from Imagane, Hokkaido. Every skewer tells a story of dedication and love for Shizuoka's food culture.
① Black broth — dark soy-based, daily replenished, surprisingly light
② Kuro Hanpen (黒はんぺん) — black fish cake unique to Shizuoka / Yaizu
③ Dashi powder + Aonori — sprinkled on top, the essential finishing touch — never skip!
